So this is what my life has become...

Tonight I was brushing the boys teeth and I told them that when they were done they should rinse their toothbrushes and toss them in the garbage. Cullen (my earth day baby) LOVES to reuse and recycle things, if there is an empty container I'm tossing he is going to need that for his next experiment. Cullen said to me, "Do I have to toss my toothbrush? Can't I make it into to something else?" I asked him what he had in mind... Geremu yells, "A back scratcher!" Cullen smiles and shakes his head no. The toothbrush is soon to be a "very important part" of Cullen's homemade sailboat.

About a half hour after the boys were put in bed they came running into my room. Cullen let me know that his butt hurt. I asked him where it hurt. He proceeds to turn around while Geremu used his hand to point to various parts of Cullen's butt cheeks. There was NO RHYME or REASON to where he was pointing, he looked more like a weather man pointing out various items on a map. Cullen explained that it was "a lot like a maze... It hurts a little bit in lots of different places." I gave him the advice to sleep on his stomach and sent the two of them on their way.

The stuff they come up with is entertaining to say the least.

April Showers Bring....

So April was off to a great start. Earlier this month we were able to have a campfire and enjoy some time with the neighbors.

Our babysitter (who is AMAZING) took Geremu to the farm...


And has spent lots of time crafting spring projects with him...

Then today, April 20th, we woke up to a 2-hour snow delay.

Which made for a FUN morning of egg dying. The boys are bending down because they were worried that I would not get their eggs in the picture with them. Don't worry the eggs made the picture!

They were tuckered out as usual tonight.

The NEVER Ending Adoption...

The year Geremu came to join our family we started the adoption process again knowing fully well that life doesn't always work the way you plan. We went with a new agency at the time and did our research but because of how new the agency was very little information was available. We got a referral and with that came questions that NO ONE seemed to have answers for... We were given several different stories and when it came right down to it nothing felt right or ethical. We never made it to court at the time because the courts had halted all abandonment cases and we ended up backing out of the adoption before completing it. One thing we have learned though our experiences with lost pregnancies and failed/unfinished adoptions is that no one really knows what to say or do to make it better. This is completely understandable, I'm not sure there is anything that really can be said to make things better. With that being said, I have not posted about adoption #3 and this has been an amazing coping strategies for me. I have found this to be true with prior pregnancies that didn't have happy ending as well. If people just don't know very much or anything about the upcoming addition to the family then nothing has to be explained if it doesn't work out. We have put our current Ethiopian adoption on hold... We have been questioning the ethics of it since Adoption #2 and I don't want to head back down a road that we have already traveled. I wish I could say that I knew we were doing the right thing but honestly I'm not even sure what the right thing is anymore. So to stick with the strategy that has worked I will let you know that we aren't done adding to our family, we REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want more kids. However, there is currently no timetable, age, gender or even place our next addition will be coming from. We are busy doing research and are open to suggestions. One day you might just click on our blog and we'll be a family of 5 or more (fingers crossed). ***I have tried everything to keep the paragraph formatting I wrote this in but every time I post it turns into 1 paragraph- ugh

Day 1

We went to North Carolina for Spring Break this year. The weather was not anything to write home about (it rained everyday but one and was pretty chilly) but the kids had a blast playing with their cousins. The first day Katie talked me into go to a baseball game because she knows how much I LOVE baseball games. It was good to see Curtis play, he connected with the ball every time at bat. The game was delayed because of lightning and eventually canceled but not before I froze my butt off in the rain. While at the game I was shocked to learn that my sister is the "Team Mom" I never did figure out what that position entitles but it makes me smile every time I say it:)

Here Curtis is pregame warming up, don't let the dry field fool you, the rain waited until the game actually started to fall. That evening we celebrated Cullen's birthday (really early). Cullen was digging the attention and trick candles. Bubba lived up to his name and polished off more of the cookie cake than anyone else much to my amusement. I love that kid! More to come tomorrow... I should note for those of you that don't personally know me I was being sarcastic about my love of baseball. My Dad is a baseball coach and has been for over 20 years and I know VERY LITTLE about the game. I tried hard to like it and play it as a kid but I never quite caught on. I was that kid in right field that never knew when the ball was coming because I was either busy smelling the dandelions or trying to entertain the small crowd... Needless to say I ran track through college.

Spring Break...

I'll post a little about spring break over the next few days. How's that for an update?

State Basketball

We had the good fortune of headed back to the boys state basketball tournament this past weekend.

The game started really late but both boys has short naps in so I figured we would be alright.

Gere asked to sit on my lap around the 3rd quarter and he fell quickly...

The fourth quarter was pretty exciting, lots of screaming and cheering but Geremu managed to sleep through all the excitement. He was carried through crowded areas and outside about a half mile walk to the car while still in a drool induced sleep. The kid is an AMAZING sleeper.

The boys lost the basketball game, it was a fun end to a great season.

A good time was had by everyone even our party pooper!

Party Time?

Cullen ran in the house tonight after attending Ash Wed. Mass and yelled, "Hello Everyone, let's get this party started!" He then came upstairs to find and informed us that"I got my ash on!"
