Upon Megan's Request...

I've got another blog post. I don't have a ton to write, the weather was BEAUTIFUL and we get the pleasure of spending the week with friends! The friends (Maureen and Abinet) we are spending the week with we met while in Ethiopia. Abinet and Geremu lived together for some time while in Ethiopia.
We went down to the beach early, Geremu and Abinet ended up wet and in their underwear after about 3 minutes.
The boys had so much fun playing together today.
Here our "surfers" are showing us their stuff.
Nick attempted boogie boarding much to our delight- LOL.
Cullen loves playing in the sand and finding shells.
The "Opians" smiled all day.

We are having lots of fun.

Looks Like We Made It...

Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting cousins we don't get to see very often, we were in the neighborhood and decided to stop. The kids enjoyed the stop, as did the adults. We could not have been happier to have stopped. The boys needed to run around a bit and burn some energy off and we all ended up catching a little sleep before heading off early this morning.
We took off from our cousins in the early morning and the boys slept peacefully in the car.
We arrived at our destination in the early afternoon and enjoyed the beautiful day.
Cullen has been really busy collecting shells and Geremu has been playing in the sand.

The boys decided to do a little pool swimming this afternoon...

Before calling it a night early. They are exhausted and looking forward to seeing one of their good friends tomorrow morning when they wake up!

I married the love of my life! The boys decorated the kitchen with signs and flowers (thanks to the sitters help) and we had a delightful meal together as a family after Nick's track practice.

When Cullen was showing me the posters he made he said, "Mom, sorry I didn't put your ring on your ring finger. I just couldn't remember what finger it went on so I put just put it on your middle finger."

"That's just fine Cullen, it's easier for me to show my ring off to people that way."

Shortly after our wedding my wedding dress went missing. The case was solved this past summer and the dress is now back in our house. Which will now provide lots of opportunities for me to wear it again...

Unfortunately, the bowl Nick used to cut his hair is still missing. We think we may have lost it when we moved into our house (almost 7 years ago). If you have this or have seen it PLEASE let us know, Nick is willing to try and bring back the bowl haircut look.

I wish I had a wedding photo scanned in to show- LOL.

Happy World Water Day

I get by with a little help from my...

When the mail truck pulls away from our house the boys make a mad dash to get the mail. We have an old milking stood they usually carry out to the mailbox so they can reach the mailbox. Today I heard them fighting over whose turn it was to get the mail, I yelled at them to quite fighting. Then I heard Cullen say, "Geremu we can use team work and both get it."
I went outside to see what Cullen was going to do for "teamwork" I witnessed the following...
When that didn't work they tried this...
I heard Cullen yell at Geremu to "hurry up", right before Geremu fell off. It's really too bad I didn't capture Geremu's dismount, because it was not graceful, he did however land on his feet with the mail still in his hand. The boys were rewarded with both the mail and a round of applause from the neighbors I didn't know were outside watching.

Trip to State

We had an exciting trip down to the Boy's State Tournament basketball games yesterday. Nick's school had won their first game at State on Thursday so we decided to bring the boys for the second game.
Geremu walked from the car to his seat chanting cheers the entire way. The first quarter of the game was AMAZING. Not only did both teams put on quite a show (we were ahead at this point) but Geremu also finished a $3.00 bag of M&M's in the first 7 minutes.
By the beginning of the 4th quarter it was clear that our team was not going to win so I brought the boys up to the nose bleed section. I think they loved to watch the game from there as much as I was enjoying watching the game from our court side seats.
Our team did not win but they sure had an great end to an excellent season.
I think the trip will be something our boys will remember.

Happy St. Patty's Day!

We had an eventful morning, Lucky the Leprechaun tricked us again! He got away will all of Cullen's gold spray painted rocks, he did leave some gold coins in random places around the house with a note that said he would see us in the afternoon. The boys were WILD looking for the coins. Cullen was positive Nick left the house early this morning because he was chasing Lucky down.
Today around 10:00am I received an e-mail from Cullen's teacher letting me know that they were "twins" again today...

Cullen just LOVES his teacher.

This afternoon we had a St. Patrick's Day Party. Corn beef, potatoes, salad, bread and green jello were on the menu. Rice Krispies treats with shamrocks on top were the treat.

At some point Lucky came back again leaving a letter for the kids with poems for each of them to help them find their "Irish treasures". When they went to find their treasures they noticed that Cullen's "gold" (spray painted rocks) that Lucky had taken were hidden all over the yard.
I just love St. Patty's Day!
Here Geremu is with Eva, he just can't seem to leave her alone. He loves to stroke her cheek and say, "Awwww, cute baby."

A Day in the Life of the Zoo Keeper

Our driveway became a zoo today and I became the zoo keeper, the job was assigned to me by Cullen. The animals kept me on the run by escaping from their cages. Once I figured out that I could keep them in their cages with food I wasn't on the run quite as often. Here my wart hog, Harpus (animal type and name chosen by Geremu), sits by his water dish, apples and an orange. He was busy making himself more food so he could invite his friend Stripes over for a party.

Here is my zebra, Stripes (he would get mad when I would "accidental" call him Stripe-less), busy making himself some chicken nuggets.

This zoo keeper has a bad feeling that she is going to be shoveling snow out of the animal cages one more time before the nice weather is here to stay...
