Cold Day= No School

That's right people, no one likes a day off of school more then a teacher! It was nice to be able to hunker down in the house today. Man is it cold out -40 with the wind chill, school has already been called off for tomorrow. We did have to bring my car in today because one of the tires was acting funny. Turns out I had a nail in it. This is not the first time, who should I blame it on this time?
Here Geremu is preforming one of the many chores he likes to do. I think I've mentioned before that he likes to lend a hand when there is work to be done. He actually does a pretty good job with the dishes. I end up redoing them but there really isn't much for me to scrub off after he is done.
Look who bundled up to come over to play today!
(Just ignore his fathers hands in the picture.)
Couldn't you just eat her up?
Look at those legs and boots- I love it!!!
When Katie and Billy come over they have been known to bring their slippers so I took a picture. Perhaps they think our floors are dirty, or maybe they just have cold feet. Either way I can't help but smile!

Baby it's Cold Outside

It's pretty darn cold outside these days. What does my boy Cullen want to do when the temps are -20 and below? Go swimming and out for ice cream. I took him for ice cream yesterday because who can resist a kid that asks for turtle ice cream? Seriously, the kid has excellent taste. But I wouldn't take him swimming because I knew he would be going today (he has swim lessons on Wednesdays).

So at swimming lessons his teacher calls him "Handsome". I sort of thought perhaps the teacher doesn't know his name and that's why she calls him Handsome. But I took note today when he first got to the pool that she said, "Hello Cullen". So after lessons he is standing in the shower and Cullen says to me, "Mom, what does handsome mean?" So I tell it means cute. He stands under the water for a few more minutes then says to me, "Should I call her cute?" I asked who he was talking about. He tells me his teacher. I couldn't help but smile because it would probably make his teachers day. I did tell him that he should probably just call his teacher by her name.

New Camera

I got a new camera last week. Well technically it's not mine, Nick got it for his birthday but since we are married and share everything, I got a new camera! It's going to take a little getting use to but here are some pictures of our weekend.

Geremu in the basement "washing" his car, his technique requires a squirt bottle and broom.

OHHHHHHHHHH, Popeye.

Cullen went upstiars to get ready for bed the other night and came down with Geremu's pj's on. Someone needs to tell this kid that capri's on men is a "don't".

The boys helping Dad wash the kitchen floor.

Fun on the tramp.

Sticky Man

Here is an unclear picture of one of the Super Hero's I was telling you about that climbs down windows. I had to turn the flash off to get a good picture and then I couldn't hold the camera still-hence the blurry picture. This Sticky Man is missing a foot, I'm not sure what happened to it but I'm crossing my fingers Geremu didn't eat it. Anyways, scroll down to her my conversation with Cullen tonight about Sticky Man's name.

Cullen: "Hey Mom, could we not call this man Sticky Man anymore?"
Me: "Sure Cullen, why not?"
Cullen: "Because he is not sticky anymore."
Me: "Oh okay, then what should we call him?"
Cullen: "Not Sticky Man"
Why didn't I think of that???

Happy Birthday Nick!

Well it was a big day in our house, Nick's birthday! Yesterday I took Cullen to the store to help pick out a few things for the birthday party. Cullen decided that Nick wanted a Spider Man theme (I didn't even know Nick liked Spider Man). We ended up getting some Super Hero Men that have sticky arms and feet, they crawl down the window. So tonight we tried them out and they work AWESOME! The boys had races with their men all night. Here are some pictures of the boys watching the men crawl down our window. Here are a picture of some of our Spider Man cupcakes, since we were out of red frosting I just used orange. Before you go making fun of these cupcakes I want you to know that Cullen said to me, "WOW Mom, I wuve it!"
Here was the crowd that attended the party minus myself (one of them is the birthday boy).
Did I mention that Cullen and Geremu have New Year resolutions? Cullen's is to stop writing on the walls and lamp shades with crayons. Geremu's is to stay off of the top of the table and counters. So far Cullen is doing great and as you may have noticed from the previous picture, Geremu needs a little more work. Tonight Nick caught Geremu crawling from the stool in the kitchen across the counter and past the sink (like a balance beam) to sneak another cupcake. And to think just 6 months ago I thought something was wrong with him because he didn't like junk food!

Look who is back on the kitchen table all excited to open one of Nick's presents.
Here Geremu is helping Dad get rid of Mom's ice rink, it was fun while it lasted.

Here the boys are burning the last of their energy off before going to bed. Why are they allowed to climb onto the toy bin box but I don't let them climb up on the kitchen counter? Why did Santa bring them a trampoline again? Don't worry people all of our big furniture is anchored to the walls so they can't tip it over. Also, notice how Geremu is finally able to stick his landing, that has taken 6+ months to accomplish.

A little rain in winter...

makes for a whole lot of fun!!!

The darkness made it a little more challenging then usual. I sure do wish my mother lived closer, she would have joined me if I promised her a mug of chai tea afterwards.
My kids stood in the window watching while I was busy workin' it on the drive way (I wasn't so much as workin' it as I was trying not to fall).
Check Spelling At one point Geremu did appear in the garage trying to join me with one roller skate on and the other skate in his hand. That's when I called it quits and brought him inside to practice his roller skating around the kitchen. For those of you that watched Geremu roller skate at Christmas, he really hasn't improved but he sure does enjoy them. Cullen has also taken a liking to the skates, between the two of them what are the chances I have a future roller skating limbo champ on my hands?

Christmas take Two!

This weekend we went to Madison to celebrate Christmas #2 with Nick's family. We had an excellent time with family and it was good to see everyone.
The original four!
The cousins enjoyed spending time together.
Saturday we spent time at the Children's Museum. Geremu's favorite activity was milking and cleaning the cows.
Look at this cuteness.
The kids enjoyed racing across the basement.

Hercules even made an appearance this year, much to the kids delight!
