Margie and the Bean Stock

So my mother, Margie, splurged this year and bought $4.00 tomato plants from Menard's as opposed to her usual $2.00 plants from a local florist. Well the extra $2.00 paid off BIG! Her plants are enormous along with HUGE ripe red tomatoes (that Geremu calls apples and tries to pick). They are almost up to the kitchen windows that are pretty high off the ground. My mother is positive it will look like jungle out the windows come September. She is now considering starting her own blog on gardening tips. She thinks the secret to gardening is to talk to the plants while watering them (this might give you some insight into her authority on gardening). If you ask me it is just a freak accident that the tomato plants ended up this tall. Speaking of freak accidents, check out the marigold plant behind my mother. The plant has buds but no flowers yet, it is up to her hip and was planted from one seed. The other night when we got home we noticed the plants starting to tip over because they are so heavy so my mother tried to take matters into her own hands. The hammer didn't work, we ended up having to tie string from the stair railing to the water pipe to hold the plants closer to the house. This is a temporary fix until my dad comes home from the BWCA because he can "fix anything" according to Marg (apparently my solution wasn't good enough).

This last picture is Geremu bright and early wanting to go outside. Seriously, someone needs to tell this kid I need at least 3 minutes after waking up and dressing him to wipe the sleep out of my eyes.
One last side note, you may have noticed that I added a traffic report to my blog yesterday. After keeping it on and seeing that people do actually look at our blog (thanks for visiting it) I have decided to get take it off and continue blogging.
